Chapter 10 discusses a newer form of research that is composed of as a self-reflective diary. This method of confessional diary is also known as video dairying. Video diaries enhance culture, the actions, insights, and passion of a participant in their environment. Video diaries help enrich the research reports. Video diary participants have the ability to alter the research as they have access to edit their videos before they are submitted. Which then leads us to question the reality of the videos submitted. Holliday had the intentions to research, explore and to investigate queer performances. The intended research composed of 15 video diaries, which took place between the time frame of 1998-2000. Video diaries allowed the participants an extensive degree of reflection. The video diaries captured conducts of the participants during the period in which the video diaries took place. Complex themes ascended from the studies. Video diaries allow for one-way conversations in return leaves the researcher in a challenging position to explore further details from participant. Follow-up interviews should be considered when additional clarification is warranted. Nonetheless, video diaries are a newer research method that is available to provide insight to life settings but like any other method there the disadvantages of this method to consider.
